Chief Technology Officer / Chief Engineer — Advanced Composites

Responsibilities

• Establish the company's engineering roadmap and technical priorities.
• Lead product architecture, engineering reviews and technical risk assessments.
• Direct composite design, structural analysis, materials engineering and manufacturing engineering.
• Establish design-review, engineering-change and configuration-control procedures.
• Review manufacturing feasibility and ensure engineering requirements can be translated into controlled production processes.
• Lead the technical assessment of new materials, manufacturing processes and automation technologies.
• Establish an engineering verification and validation strategy.
• Coordinate product development with manufacturing, quality, testing and external specialists.
• Evaluate engineering evidence and approve technical decisions within delegated authority.
• Establish engineering competency requirements and develop the technical team.
• Review customer technical requirements, specifications and proposed solutions.
• Ensure safety-critical technical decisions receive the necessary independent review.
• Identify technical risks, capability gaps and investment requirements.
• Support customer technical reviews and major engineering proposals.

Essential qualifications

• Degree in aerospace, mechanical, materials, composite or a closely related engineering discipline.
• Demonstrated technical leadership; approximately 10 or more years of relevant engineering experience is preferred.
• Experience leading engineering programmes, multidisciplinary teams or complex product-development activities.
• Strong understanding of composite materials, structural engineering and manufacturing industrialisation.
• Ability to review engineering calculations, manufacturing processes, validation plans and technical reports.
• Experience taking products from development towards repeatable manufacturing.
• Strong engineering judgement and technical communication.

Preferred qualifications

• Direct experience in aerospace, defence, space or advanced composite manufacturing.
• A PhD is not mandatory where the candidate has equivalent practical expertise and a strong engineering record.
