02Engineering focus
Composite structures, built by machine, tow by tow.
DANTA is developing advanced composite manufacturing capability with an Automated Fiber Placement-led strategy. Building that capability is the work.
Engineering at DANTA- 01
Automated Fiber Placement
DANTA's manufacturing strategy is AFP-led: composite laminates built tow by tow, by machine, along programmed fibre paths. The work spans toolpath planning, process parameters and placement quality.
- 02
Materials and process
A laminate is only as good as its process. That means understanding how carbon-fibre materials are stored, handled, laid up and cured — and controlling each step so results repeat.
- 03
Structures and simulation
Fibre angles, ply stacks and geometry decide how a composite part carries load. Analysis and simulation connect what is designed to what can actually be manufactured.
03The work
Problems worth an engineer’s time
01
Toolpath and trajectory planning
Steering tows across curved tooling without gaps, overlaps or wrinkles.
02
Process development
Finding the parameter window — and proving it holds from one build to the next.
03
Robotic manufacturing
Programming, simulating and commissioning automated equipment.
04
Laminate and structural design
Choosing fibre angles and ply stacks for the loads a part must carry.
05
Tooling and industrialisation
Designing the moulds, fixtures and handling that make production possible.
06
Inspection and quality
Deciding what to measure, how to trace it, and what to do when it deviates.
