Test, Inspection and Product Qualification Engineer

Plan, coordinate and document the verification, testing and qualification activities needed to demonstrate that materials, processes and products meet their defined requirements. This role is distinct from the Quality Engineer: testing establishes technical evidence, while the quality function controls the quality system and product-release process.

Responsibilities

  • Develop product-specific verification and test plans.
  • Translate engineering requirements into measurable acceptance criteria.
  • Coordinate material, coupon, component and assembly testing as applicable.
  • Support process-validation and manufacturing-trial programmes.
  • Coordinate dimensional metrology and specialist NDT.
  • Arrange suitable external laboratory services when testing cannot be performed internally.
  • Coordinate pressure-vessel proof, burst, cycling and leak tests where applicable.
  • Verify that test facilities and methods are suitable for the intended activity.
  • Maintain test plans, procedures, results and traceability records.
  • Review anomalies, failures and unexpected results with engineering.
  • Support correlation of analysis and test results.
  • Coordinate calibration of measurement equipment.
  • Prepare technical test reports and qualification evidence.
  • Ensure that testing is performed by appropriately competent personnel.

Essential qualifications

  • Degree in mechanical, aerospace, materials or a related engineering discipline.
  • Experience in manufacturing verification, material testing, product validation or qualification.
  • Ability to develop test plans and interpret technical data.
  • Knowledge of measurement systems, calibration and test documentation.
  • Understanding of specimen traceability and test acceptance criteria.
  • Strong technical reporting skills.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in aerospace composites, pressure testing or non-destructive inspection, according to programme requirements.
  • Method-specific NDT work must be performed by appropriately qualified personnel under the applicable procedure and authorisation requirements.
